Upon the announcement of the release of the ninth-generation Pok\u00e9mon TCG expansion set Crimson Haze [SV5a]<\/a>, not many expected a Pok\u00e9mon Tool card to end up as one of the biggest pulls. That, however, is exactly what has transpired; this Rescue Board card turned out to be quite the catch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card’s biggest attention-grabber is its impressive rarity of Ultra Rare (UR)\u2014just one of three cards in the entire set to have that rarity. Accentuating its exclusivity are the card’s gold border, holofoil infusing a spectrum-like effect into the visuals, and multicolored spiral pattern accompanied with sparkles that together serve to highlight the Rescue Board itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gameplay-wise, this card helps the Pok\u00e9mon to which it’s attached play some last-ditch defense in a tight spot. When a Pok\u00e9mon with 30 HP or less remaining has Rescue Board attached, that Pok\u00e9mon doesn’t have to discard any Energy cards to retreat. Pok\u00e9mon with more HP remaining, meanwhile, use up one less Energy card to retreat should Rescue Board be attached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While an English Rescue Board card does exist, it’s not one with this illustration or rarity. The English version of this specific card isn’t yet out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retail price of a Rescue Board (Crimson Haze [SV5a] 095\/066) card of UR rarity is 3,780 JPY (~US$25).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
