Since joining New Balance, Teddy Santis has garnered a reputation for releasing models in classic and clean neutrals. However, it seems like the Aim\u00e9 Leon Dore founder is attempting to break out of this mould by introducing vibrant pops of color through the New Balance 990s. The most recent of which was the New Balance 990v3 “Raw Amethyst”<\/a> which saw the model take on a predominantly pastel purple hue.<\/p>\n

Now, Teddy Santis is welcoming an even bolder color into his Made in USA palette \u2014 scarlet reds. This time around, the unexpected color is seen on two New Balance models: the 990v2 and 990v3.<\/p>\n

Dubbed the New Balance 990v2 “Chrysanthemum”, the upper is made up of a navy mesh base with shades of red suede. The N logo remains a simple black with white trimming. Perhaps what prompted the naming of this colorway is the slightly yellowed sole, which gives the fresh colorway a slight vintage tilt.<\/p>\n

In similar fashion, the New Balance 990v3 “Scarlet” also sees eye-catching red suedes and mesh constructing the upper. This edition, however, complements this red with New Balance’s classic grays on the overlays, midsole and tongue. Performance-wise, ENCAP cushioning enhances durability and support for every day wear.<\/p>\n
