In honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary, Konami held the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: The Legend of Duelist Quarter Century event at the Tokyo Dome over the weekend of 3-4 February 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone who showed up received one of two cards handed out as participatory gifts. Those who were there on 3 February 2024 received the Quarter Century Secret Rare Green Version of the Dark Magician card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card was specifically intended to be a counterpart for another Quarter Century Secret Rare Green Version card\u2014the Blue-Eyes White Dragon<\/a> that was distributed on 4 February 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dark Magician card is best-known as the signature card of anime protagonist Yugi Muto and has thus been reprinted a great many times. This one, however, could possibly end up as the most valuable of the card’s abundance of iterations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Quarter Century Secret Rare card, this card enjoys elevated prestige right off the bat as only selected cards have this rarity created for the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary. Additionally, the fact that it’s just one of two Green Version cards further elevates its exclusivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, it should be noted that this card will probably never see a re-release, making the cards currently on the open market the only copies to ever be printed. This scarcity will most likely drive up the card’s value over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike most other Dark Magician cards, the Quarter Century Secret Rare Green Version of the Dark Magician card hasn’t been released in English and most likely will never be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not just the fact that this is a Quarter Century Secret Rare card\u2014a rarity bestowed upon a select few cards in conjunction with the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG\u2019s 25th anniversary. Setting this card apart from all but one other Quarter Century Secret Rare is the fact that this is the Green Version\u2014which only this card and a similar Dark Magician card have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Quarter Century Secret Rare Green Version of the Dark Magician (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: The Legend of Duelist Quarter Century TD01-JP001) card sells for \u00a526,000 (~US$176).<\/p>\n\n\n
