On 27 February 2023\u2014Pok\u00e9mon Day 2023\u2014the official reveal of Walking Wake sent shockwaves throughout the Pok\u00e9mon fanbase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suicune, the iconic box Legendary of Pok\u00e9mon Crystal, would be getting a prehistoric makeover as Walking Wake and put into Pok\u00e9mon Scarlet\u2014specifically, Area Zero, a unique area of Paldea filled with the prehistoric Pok\u00e9mon known as Paradox Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its Pok\u00e9mon TCG form soon followed\u2014and not only that; Walking Wake ex was one of the cards from Wild Force [SV5K]<\/a> that received a Special Art Rare (SAR) version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

True to the in-universe lore, the card’s Full Art illustration depicts Walking Wake ex inside the cavern of Area Zero. The holofoil that covers the card not only adds a glossy look to the image; it also highlights the background, making the surroundings of Area Zero appear even more impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist Teeziro chose to show a view of Walking Wake ex from the side. In this way, its two most striking physical features stand out: its two stunning curved tails and the purple cape-like mane\u2014the feature first made iconic by its descendant Suicune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s that same link to Suicune that will provide many long-time Pok\u00e9mon fans with a sense of nostalgia. As the sole Legendary Beast to be a box Legendary\u2014and one of a third version at that, Suicune holds a special place in the Pok\u00e9mon canon. Walking Wake ex only adds to this illustrious history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English version of this card is 205\/162 of the Temporal Forces [TEF] set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SAR version of a Walking Wake ex (Wild Force [SV5K] 094\/071) card sells for \u00a56,480 (~US$44).<\/p>\n\n\n
