Coupled with the rarity and eye-catching designs of their respective Pokémon TCG cards, it was always to be expected that their first appearances in the Pokémon TCG would be majorly anticipated—such as the Chien-Pao ex card from the Snow Hazard [SV2P] expansion set.

Available in Special Art Rare (SAR) form, this card depicts the Ice-type Legendary Pokémon roaring ferociously amidst an intense blizzard—an imagery that perfectly captures the Sword of Ruin’s immense power. Aesthetically speaking, kodama’s illustration also pairs well with the card’s holofoil—some of the portions which show the swirling snow appear to turn different colors when held to the light at certain angles.

The card’s utility in gameplay also makes it a significant draw. When it’s in the Active slot, its Shivery Chill ability permits players to take up to two Water Energy cards from the deck—allowing them to power up their Pokémon rapidly.

This card’s English version is card 261/193 from the Paldea Evolved [PAL] set.

A Chien-Pao ex (Snow Hazard [SV2P] 093/071) card costs ¥7,400 (~US$50) as of the most recent figures.

In other TCG-related news, check out the Tulip card from Future Flash [SV4M]. Alternatively, you can also head over to the SNKRDUNK App via the banner below and find the top trending and latest single cards and boxes.

Introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the four Treasures of Ruin have among the most intriguing backstories in the entire Pokémon canon.
