The release of the Legacy of Destruction<\/a> Core Booster in January ushered in major changes within the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG metagame. Three new archetypes\u2014Raika, Sangen, and Tenpai Dragon\u2014as well as the Shining Sarcophagus card series were introduced to the game. Additionally, many new members and supports were added to more than 20 archetypes as well as the Trap Monster and Wight series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following all these changes to the meta, several deck archetypes have since risen to peak viability and become the dominant decks according to official and unofficial tournament stats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire King Snake-Eye<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This deck specializes in counter-attacking play. Its main attribute is its ability to adapt to opposing tactics, allowing players to respond accordingly. In general, Fire King Snake-Eye is a fast-moving, fluid deck that doesn’t stall easily. Adding to this deck’s potency is the fact that the specific attributes possessed by Fire King and Snake-Eye pair well by canceling out many of the other’s vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This deck mainly utilizes various methods to deploy Link Monsters that inflict disruptive effects on opponents. By doing so, players will widen the resource gap and set up opportunities to land game-changing moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generally, most players will seek to turn monsters on the board or in the graveyard into Continuous Spell Cards. This in turn applies pressure on the opponent’s Spell & Trap Zone; it may also be possible to use this monster-to-Spell Card maneuver as the cost of an effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenpai Dragon<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This deck is all about efficiency. Firstly, it’s efficient in terms of card frequency\u2014relatively few cards are needed to make the deck’s primary functions work. This frees up plenty of space to add cards which can be used to counter opposing cards which would otherwise have been matchup problems for the deck. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, by using Synchro Summons, a larger number of attacks than usual can be used, allowing players to tear through opponents’ Life Points at a rapid pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
