[Update 19 Aug] The timing of this release is just impeccable with the news yesterday that Japan is urging its youth to drink more. Apparently sobriety has gravely shrunk alcohol sales and it’s affecting the nation’s tax revenue. So with that said, kanpai (cheers in Japanese)!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Formerly known as “Timeline”, we now have more exciting details and official photos of the AF1 that was first teased in early July. Now known as “Izakaya”, the sneaker pays homage to the izakaya drinking culture in Japan. The word itself is made up of three kanji characters that means \u201cstay-drink-place.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

There’s also more background on the motifs: The colors on the upper are reminiscent of the interior of an izakaya bar. The red star on the left pair’s heel is a supposed nod to Sapporo, the country’s oldest homegrown beer; while the right holds the Shigakari Ware graphic. It’s a traditional Japanese pottery of a tanuki (raccoon dog), believed to attract prosperity in a place of business. <\/strong>The centerpiece\u2014the receipt on the tongue\u2014instead of depicting a long list of orders, details the AF1’s timeline.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Izakaya will be released in Japan on August 25 with a RP of \u00a515,400 (\u2248US$113). It will be a raffled pair on atmos, closing on the 24th, 20:59 (GMT+9).

\"LINE\"<\/p>\n

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1, Nike has launched a new design of the Air Force 1 Mid that note down the epic journey of the famous basketball silhouette.<\/p>\n

This pair arrives in a clean color blocking, cream canvas base with tan leather overlays, followed by black Nike Swooshes on each side. Unique to this pair, it features a removable vintage-inspired timeline receipt of the Air Force 1. Starting with 1983, the year when the first Air Force 1 Low made its debut, 1994 marks the introduction of the Air Force 1 Mid and so many other historical events that followed.<\/p>\n

Other details include the graphic insoles which house two cartoon-like beavers. The beaver illustration also appears on the right ankle. It is speculated that the illustration is a nod to Beaverton \u2014 where the Nike World Headquarters is located at. The defining details on this Air Force 1 Mid include an embroidered tan Swoosh superimposing on a red star which is seen on the left lateral ankle.<\/p>\n

Finishing touches include a Sail midsole atop a tan rubber outsole and cork material used in the rear.<\/p>\n
