The Air Force 1 is one of the most popular silhouettes of all time. As the 40th anniversary of this sneaker icon draws closer, Nike has been ramping up its AF1 launches (particularly in lieu of Air Max Day<\/a>). The Air Force 1 “Hemp” is a newer addition to this AF1-focused push, and it’s completely unlike any of its neighbouring releases.<\/p>\n

The “Hemp” colourway is a mix of “Phantom\/Sail\/University Blue\/Team Orange”, with “Team Orange” at the forefront on the Swoosh. The colourway is a simple yet aesthetic mix, but it is by no means the most eye-catching feature of the sneaker. Instead, this Air Force 1 focuses on its extraordinary recycled hemp texture that lends itself to a handwoven, tailor-made look. Even the swoosh and heel tab are made of this hemp textile, attached to the upper through blanket stitches. Only the tongue, inner lining and sole match the typical AF1 textures we know so well.<\/p>\n

The AF1 “Hemp” contains a unique “Hemp Air Force 1” logo on the tongue tab. Meanwhile, the heel tab uses stitched black “Nike Air” text with “Nike” in a cursive font, a rare addition to an AF1. Though the sole unit retains its normal design, its speckled look shows that it has been made out of partially-recycled material, much like the rest of the shoe. The insole uses “Sail” green to contrast with Nike’s black “Move To Zero<\/a>” campaign logo, completing the look. Overall, the Air Force 1 “Hemp” makes use of vibrant, pleasing colours to complement the eye-catching hemp texture of this out-of-the-box shoe.<\/p>\n
