[Update 21 Feb 2023] Almost two months after it first released in the US, the Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Low “Orange Lobster” is finally making its way to Japan. 28 February is the official Japanese drop date and several local retailers have already begun conducting raffles for the hype shoes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As we count down to the launch, take a look at the first leaks for Concepts’ next collaborative sneaker\u2014the Concepts x New Balance 998<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

[Update 28 Nov] An important update’s in order: a firm release date has been announced by Concepts. The “Orange Lobster” will be released on 2nd December, 11 AM (EST) at their brick-and-click stores followed by a wider SNKRS one from 2nd\u20134th December. US skate shops will then join the distribution from the 20th.<\/p>\n

In addition to this news, they’ve also collaborated with the Salvador Dali estate to produce a custom “Lobster Phone” packaging, one as surprising and enigmatic\u2014yet apt\u2014as the artist himself. The aforementioned was a Surrealist sculpture he produced for poet Edward James in 1936. An accompanying apparel and accessories collection, that includes a 100% and 400% thematic Be@rbrick will be available from 1st December in all Concepts stores, online and off.<\/p>\n

[Update 10 Nov 2022] A release date has confirmed for the Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Low “Orange Lobster”. Set to be release on 2nd December, it will be made available via Nike SNKRS and Concepts for a retail price of $130.<\/p>\n

[Update 19 Aug 2022] New images have been released for the “Orange Lobster”. There’s still no news when they’ll be served exactly but at least now we know what’s on the menu with these on-foot look by @yankeekicks and outdoor shots by @chriscolgan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Boston-based boutique Concepts’ history with Nike is a familiar story to the sneaker-acquainted. In 2008, they began an explosive “Lobster” saga with Nike that went beyond expectations. Referencing the reddish hues of a cooked lobster, the first “Red Lobster” Nike SB Dunks not only impressed with its detailed design, but also\u00a0the experience of receiving it. At its launch, the first 50 pairs came in a wooden box with a lobster claw rubber band, a shell cracker, fork, bib and butter-coloured laces among other things. The attention to detail and commitment to the thematic collaboration exploded the sneaker’s popularity, and later renditions in “Blue Lobster”, “Yellow Lobster”, “Green Lobster” and “Purple Lobster” received just as much hype.<\/p>\n

Now, rumour has it that the two streetwear icons are reuniting to cook up another Lobster, this time in the form of a Nike SB Dunk Low “Orange Lobster”. Given that the “Green Lobster” was released as a colourway that mixed the red and blue of the earlier Lobsters, and the “Purple Lobster” blended the blue and yellow Lobster, it is suspected that the “Orange Lobster” is also a fusion of two colourways. No prize for guessing that the Orange edition is likely the coming together of the red and yellow lobster!<\/p>\n

Though details are still sparse for this release, and both Concepts and Nike have yet to officially confirm this drop, mock ups have appeared online via JF Grails<\/a>. Per previous Lobsters, this orange overhaul would feature a sock lining that resembles a bib and a blue rubber band attached to the forefoot \u2014 similar to how lobsters appear for sale. The vibrant orange is one of the rarest colours of the crustacean, aligning well with how the Lobster Dunks have become rare and coveted collectibles in the community.<\/p>\n
