[Update 6 Nov 2023] While initially thought to be a refresh of the 2008 Nike Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin”, new images have confirmed that it’s rather a remake<\/em> rather than a faithful tribute to the OG. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The new Nike Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin 2.0” serves more as a new colorway with callbacks to the legendary 2008 pair. The black hairy suede once found on the overlay has now been relocated to the midsole and Swoosh, while orange accents have since been replaced with a more burgundy-like color. Thankfully, for fans of the original, the “KEEP RIP’N” “STOP SLIP’N” text can still be found on the heel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Take a look at new retail images of the Nike Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin 2.0” via the top slider above. It’s expected to release on 28 November, at a retail price of US$160.<\/strong><\/p>\n

[Update 12 Apr 2023] New information about the Nike Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin” have surfaced, courtesy of Sneaker Files<\/a>. While initially reported that it would retain the same colorway as its 2008 predecessor, it turns out that the new iteration will feature a slightly different color scheme, though the inspiration remains clear. For OG Air Max fans, we might only be one quarter into the year but it definitely feels awesome, huh?<\/p>\n\n\n

Highlighted by the Nike Air Max 1 OG \u201cBig Bubble\u201d<\/a> that released on Air Max Day, the brand has been big on bringing back OG silhouettes and designs from the past in recent times. Case in point: the Nike Air Max 1 “Black Toe”<\/a> which reminisces the 2003 “Chili”, and the Air Jordan 3 \u201cWhite Cement Reimagined\u201d<\/a>, which dropped not too long ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining those legendary OGs is the Nike Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin”, which is no slouch of its own. Debuting in 2008 alongside the Nike Air Stab \u201cRunnin\u2019 Gunnin\u201d and the Nike Air Max 90 \u201cKing of the Mountain”, the trio formed Nike’s “Greatest Hits” pack. But wait\u2014the OG-ception gets deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2008 Air Max 1 “Keep Rippin Stop Slippin” itself is inspired by the OG Air Safari from 1987. Sporting the all-too-familiar Safety Orange and Black color scheme, it was a near perfect tribute to the Air Safari, save for its black leather mid panel construction swapped out for pony hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there isn’t any imagery available for the 2023 version, it is expected to keep most, if not, all of the design elements present on the 2008 pair. Expect to see a similar construction across most of its uppers, the “Air Max” tongue tags, as well as the “KEEP RIPPIN STOP SLIPPIN” branding applied on the heels and insole graphic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
