solebox and adidas Reintroduce the Ultra 4D and UltraBoost 1.0
Turning the clock back to 2016.
solebox and adidas share a connection rooted in Berlin and it’s not their maiden collaborative effort. In 2016, at the apogee of the UltraBOOST’s fame, some sneakerhead’s were seen removing the Three Stripe-cages on its profile leaving bare the PrimeKnit upper. From there, solebox made it an official design by integrating it into their first project with adidas.
Now in 2023, years removed from the mayhem of people fighting for a pair, the two parties pay homage to their shared history by reintroducing the Ultra 4D and the primary UltraBOOST 1.0; the first still uncaged. Similar to their predecessor, the two return with a monochromatic uniform taupe palette. Moreover for the UltraBOOST 1.0, a textured finish lands on the cages mimicking the look of concrete.
Both feature solebox’s branding on the lateral heel, presiding over the TPU mold. Although the colorway is relatively understated, the glow-in-the-dark outsole is enough of a highlight to elevate its appeal.
The Ultra 4D and the UltraBOOST will have an exclusive vernissage on 16 March at Lobe Block in Berlin where attendees can have a pre-access to the former. A price tag hasn’t been disclosed yet but it will be see a wider release on the 17th via their website, with the latter seeing a release on 31 March.
