The Packer x Clarks Wallabee Croc Walks in Premium Territory
Exalting the cult icon Wallabee.
Clarks’ Wallabee has an undeniable foothold in pop culture, whether through its associations with the Wu-Tang Clan or Walter White. For the au corant, it’s a cult icon. It’s the brand’s quintessence, no shoe quite as synonymous. A mention of Clarks and the Wallabee comes to mind, vice versa.
A legacy brand takes on a legacy shoe. Packer has a storied history especially in its birthplace in New York, having been one of the pioneering boutique sneaker shops in the States. Packer has displayed its proclivities and audacity for reimagining the most recognizable silhouettes. Consider its work on the Reebok Club C, the Saucony Jazz ’81, and the adidas Forum ’84.
Applying the same MO on this collaboration, they elevate the moc toe footwear onto a class of its own. The general suede makeup gets retrofitted with leather while replicating the textured finish of crocodile skin. Two colorways are produced in the collaboration: one in “Pink”, the other “Maple”. Both in a singular, uniform colorway.
The signature hangtags aren’t left out as they too see a material overhaul. For accessories, comes the golden aglets that adorn the waxed cotton and alternate rope laces. Even with all the action on the upper, restraint is exercised by retaining the hallmark crepe sole unit that’s intrinsically part of the Wallabees appeal.
They’ll be released on 10th February at Packer’s brick-and-click with a price point of US$220.
