Part of Yohji Yamamoto’s helm, Y-3’s approach to wear has always leaned towards redefining and transcending common conceptions of what sports and street garments look like. Their fashion philosophy is all about blending traditional and modern elements to create a vision of the future. It is no wonder that Y-3 is returning to the 4D Runner — which utilises 3D printing technology to create a 4D lattice structure that propels runners towards greater performance.

In pictures provided by @le.syndrome, this upcoming Y-3 x adidas 4D model will likely be a sequel  to the first collaborative 4D Halo Runner, which was recently dropped in November. Unlike its predecessor, which utilised a PRIMEKNIT upper alongside an artistically molded polyurethane heel cage, this sample is sleeker in its silhouette.

Swapping out the heel cage for an upper that looks more akin to the 4DFWD, the design is dressed in a full black with Yohji Yamamoto’s signature across the medial length. Y-3 is layered onto the tongue while the heel tab features co-branding. Mismatched Three Stripes are the prominent feature here, with right featuring the stripes painted on in white brushstrokes — a nod to Yohji Yamamoto’s painting forays.
