The British folks at Palace have been hosting back to back high fashion collaborations in the later parts of the year — from surviving an apocalyptical Gucci capsule to entering the flower-filled Y-3 garden, the skateboard brand has definitely ventured out of their usual ramps. But after these successive adventures, Palace heads down memory lane and reminisces its first collaboration ten years ago with Manchester sportswear brand Umbro.

Previously linking up in 2012, the Palace x Umbro collection then was a six-piece SS12 capsule that featured 90’s-inspired football apparel. With the FIFA World Cup coming up, this aesthetic source remains the well of inspiration for the new Palace x Umbro project, and distinct nods back to both brands’ first apparel drop are obvious.

Leading the charge is a matching drill top and shorts combination that features a panelled design. Co-branding elements are featured prominently across the chest of the shirt and down the sides of the shorts. Notably, the tops in this collaborative collection are fitted with rib inserts at the neckline.

Of course, football tops are also prominent pieces available in five colorways—Vermillion, Neutral Grey, Geranium Pink, Florida Keys and Dahlia Purple. This bright assortment bears a cracked ice jacquard pattern that seems apt given both brands’ geometrical logo design. Sleeves are cuffed with Palace-branded lining for its finishing touches.

This Palace x Umbro collection is slated for Week 7 of Palace’s Winter 2022 collection. Specifically, it will launch on 18 Nov, 11AM GMT and 11AM EST (7PM SGT and 12AM SGT), in Europe and US respectively. Japan will see a slightly later release on 19 Nov, 11AM JST (10AM SGT), on the Palace Japan webstore.

In other collaborations not to miss, atmos and adidas are tapping into Daiki Tsuneta’s superstar power (he’s the man topping the charts as King Gnu, millenium parade and PERIMETRON!).
