A True Blue Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid “University Blue”
It's been 41 years since Michael Jordan first played for the University of North Carolina in '81.
The Jumpman has paid tribute to Michael Jordan’s alma mater by utilising the University Blue colorway on the Jordan line of shoes, often in conjunction with a white leather base. But as the linear arrow of time travels, it has already been 41 years since the basketball star first played at the University of North Carolina, and this iconic blue shade has now surpassed “retro” labelling and is now considered “vintage” by conventional standards.
As a nod to its newly attributed vintage status, a Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid “University Blue” with aged detailing is on its way. Noticeably, where the usual white leather sits is now replaced with a lighter shade of the titular University Blue. The outsole, too, adopts the UNC Blue shade. This tonal rendering makes the shoe look less current with a dated flair. To ensure that the Swoosh still stands out, a black outline trims the symbol. Adding to the aged effect, the sole is slightly speckled.
No official release dates have attached themselves to this AJ1 Mid “University Blue”, but we are sure more information will come soon. Stay tuned to our site to be kept up to date with the latest news.
