Every Detail, Reimagined in Japanese

The most defining feature of this release is that every single detail has been rendered in Japanese. This decision commemorates the first time LVC’s historic Shrink-to-Fit™ fabric was produced in Japan. From the text on the iconic Two Horse leather patch to the engravings on the buttons and rivets, and even the paper flasher tag you only see at purchase, all branding is written in Japanese.

The jean is based on the pivotal 1901 501® model, a landmark in denim history as the first pair to feature the fifth pocket. It utilizes a high-quality 12 oz. plain selvedge denim, proudly made in Japan. The silhouette faithfully reproduces the classic style of the original, featuring a high waist and a relaxed fit.

It’s packed with details coveted by vintage enthusiasts: it lacks the signature Red Tab (which was not introduced until 1936) and is equipped with two back pockets, true to its era.

With only 800 pairs produced worldwide, each individually serial-numbered, this jean is a true collector’s item. It stands as Levi’s® ultimate tribute to Japanese craftsmanship—a special release designed to be seen and appreciated up close.
