The Raikou card from eighth-generation Pokémon TCG set Legendary Heartbeat [S3a] is notably not only for its rarity and collectability, but also for its prowess in gameplay during the period for which it was tournament-legal. As such, it’s one of the more well-known and sought-after cards from the early Gen 8 days.

About Raikou (Legendary Heartbeat [S3a] 015/076)

The Raikou card from Legendary Heartbeat [S3a] comes in the rarity of Amazing Rare (A); it’s one of just six cards in the set and nine to ever be released to come in that rarity. Like all other cards of the A rarity, this card’s illustration features a multicolored background that extends beyond the borders of the frame. The fact that only nine cards of this rarity were ever released further adds to the exclusivity of this card and thus elevates its price tag.

Although this card hasn’t been tournament-legal in a very long time, it nonetheless is one which will appeal to those well-versed in Pokémon TCG metagame history as well. This is because Raikou was a crucial part of the Lugia VSTAR and Lost Zone Box decks because of its Amazing Shot attack which could snipe a Benched Pokémon for 120 damage—often enough to pick up a KO on an opposing Benched Pokémon before it could be fully set up.
