How to Determine If a ONE PIECE Card Game Card Is Counterfeit

Anyone who has ever been unsure of a ONE PIECE Card Game card’s authenticity should take note of the points to follow in this article as they will supply all the necessary information as to how the authenticity of a ONE PICE Card Game card can be either confirmed or debunked.

The sample card we will be using is the gold-foiled reprint of the Secret Rare Special (SEC-SPC) Monkey D. Luffy card from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05].

Processing

This is the most obvious discrepancy there is. Just a surface glance reveals that the fake version’s processing doesn’t even come close to that of the original. It should, however, be noted that processing discrepancies of fake ONE PIECE Card Game cards aren’t always this blatant—sometimes they’re more subtle.

Illustration

On our sample card, we can see that the counterfeit version has three distinct points in the illustration which prove it to be not the real thing. First off, the circle around the “10” on the fake version is in gold rather than purple.

The fake card uses a different art style, as can be seen by the fact that Luffy’s mouth has been drawn differently.

Finally, the base of Luffy’s sandals should only have a horizontal line pattern on them. However, the fake version has a shadow-like design on its edge as well.

Card Thickness

Fake ONE PIECE Card Game cards tend to be thicker than genuine ones. This is because when the fakes are made, an additional layer is often included.

Infrared Light

When a real ONE PIECE Card Game card is held under infrared light, it will take on a white tint. On the other hand, a fake card will have a black tint.
