Ever since the introduction of Full Art cards in 2010 when the Pokémon TCG’s fifth generation started, only one of the original eight Gym Leaders has never appeared on a Full Art card: Vermilion Gym Leader Lt. Surge. This has at last changed in Mega Brave [M1L] with the Electric-type specialist finally getting the Full Art treatment after almost 15 years.

About Lt. Surge’s Deal (Mega Brave [M1L] 090/063)

As far as this Special Art Rare (SAR) card is concerned, its status as the first Full Art card depicting one of the original Gym Leaders from Gen 1 video games Pokémon Red and Blue is sure to attract much interest due to both nostalgia and the novelty factor. The trademark cartoonish art style of illustrator osare (whose name is stylized in all-lowercase) is on full display as well, adding a more light-hearted visual vibe to what’s already a card many would be seeking out.

Gameplay-wise, this Supporter card is one of the most gimmicky among all active cards. After playing this card, the player ask the opponent if both will take a Prize card. If the opponent agrees, both players do so; otherwise, the player draws four cards. Many players have been theorycrafting about how, if at all, this card could potentially fit into decks which are prevalent in the current metagame.

Release Details

The English translation of this card will be out on 26 September 2025 along with the rest of Mega Evolution [MEG].

The sale price of a Lt. Surge’s Deal (Mega Brave [M1L] 090/063) card is 2,710 JPY (~US$18).

As of 1 August 2025, this card is selling at below retail price on SNKRDUNK.
