Mega Venusaur was the only one of the original three starter Pokémon’s Mega-Evolved forms to make an appearance in Mega Brave [M1L] / Mega Symphonia [M1S], the dual set that kicked off the Pokémon TCG’s Mega era. For that reason, as well as several others, Mega Venusaur ex has emerged as one of the set’s top pickups.

The Full Art illustration of this Special Art Rare (SAR) card forms the third part of a combined illustration when placed alongside the Art Rare (AR) versions of its pre-evolution cards from the same set: Bulbasaur and Ivysaur. On the lower half of the card, silhouettes of Bulbasaur and Ivysaur can also be seen. In addition to the card’s rarity, the nostalgia factor among those who have been Pokémon fans since the Gen 1 days is likely to be a key component of this card’s value.

Another layer of nostalgia lies in this card’s Ability of Solar Transfer. Enabling the player to transfer Grass Energy cards between the player’s Pokémon, the Ability is similar to the Energy Trans Pokémon Power of the very first Venusaur card—the one from Expansion Pack, the inaugural Pokémon TCG set. Mega Venusaur ex also boasts the most HP of any card currently tournament-legal, with a whopping 380.

Release Details

The English version of this card will be card 177/132 in Mega Evolution [MEG] and released on 26 September 2025.
