The obsession with pristine sneakers is evolving as brands increasingly embrace a “worn-in” aesthetic. New Balance is the latest to join this trend with its “Dirty” 1000, following releases like Nike’s .SWOOSH AF1 “Dirty Triple White” and A$AP Rocky’s PUMA Inhale OG.

About the New Balance 1000 “Dirty”

New Balance is reimagining its classic 1000 runner—a silhouette that saw a resurgence in 2024 with its original 1999 appeal—by giving it a “used” transformation. This iteration features realistic, dirt-like smudges on the white mesh, aged-looking leather overlays, and discolored midsoles that emphasize the shoe’s robust design and ABZORB cushioning. A black outsole and matching branding complete the distressed look.

Notably, even the recently unveiled New Balance 1000 “Grey Metallic” incorporates subtle distressing, albeit less pronounced. While two similar grey sneakers might seem redundant for most brands, for New Balance, it aligns with a deep-rooted tradition.

Release Details

The New Balance 1000 “Dirty” is scheduled for release on the brand’s official website on 1 August, with an RRP of US$150.
