In an exciting departure from typical collaborations, Vans has granted unprecedented creative freedom to four athletes—three skateboarders and one surfer—for their new Vans Premium Old Skool “New Future” collection. This unique series features complete overhauls of Vans’ classic silhouette.

About the Vans Premium Old Skool “New Future” Collection

The collection kicks off on 17 July with a design by 16-year-old Japanese skateboarder Cocona Hiraki. Her Old Skool boasts a primarily white and green color scheme, crafted from corduroy, and accented with black contrast stitching on the Sidestripes. A distinctive removable friendship bracelet, adorned with charms reflecting Cocona’s Japanese heritage, completes the look.

Next, 4 September sees the release of two distinct pairs. Surfer Karina Rozunko’s contribution reimagines the Old Skool’s lacing system, replacing it with a unique cover secured by substantial metal pieces. Her design also features a significantly bulkier midsole, enhanced with an added rubber toe guard. Simultaneously, Tania Cruz introduces an edgy black colorway that’s designed to gradually fade to red with wear, adding a dynamic element to her collaboration.

The “New Future” collection concludes on 10 September with what is arguably its most ambitious entry, from Efron Danzig. Danzig’s design features an entirely new heeled sole unit, a premium full-grain leather upper, and metal buckles that replace traditional laces for a bold, innovative aesthetic.

Release Details

While specific pricing for the Vans Premium Old Skool “New Future” collection has not yet been revealed, it’s anticipated that all four pairs will likely retail for US$100 or more. Stay tuned for more details soon!
