Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Knightmare Goblin

Knightmare Goblin is a card which has been long banned from Yu-Gi-Oh TCG tournament play. It has been prohibited from use in tournament decks since September 2018 outside Japan and Asia-Pacific and January 2019 in those regions. After more than six years on the blacklist, Knightmare Goblin will be unbanned in Japan and Asia-Pacific starting from January 2019.

About Knightmare Goblin (Flames of Destruction FLOD-JP044)

The metagame has now changed to a point at which Knightmare Goblin can be regarded as “just another combo piece”. Link climbing is nowhere near as strong a mechanic as it was at the time of this card’s ban all those years ago. Additionally, the card’s additional Normal summon isn’t as potent as it once was within the meta because it not only requires two monster cards; Knightmare Goblin also needs to not be in the Extra Monster Zone. As such, the setup is often seen as somewhat awkward and unwieldy.

This card was only released once: in Series 10 Core Booster Flames of Destruction. It came in two versions, of which the rarer is the Secret Rare version. The character depicted on it is the Knightmare corrupted version of Mekk-Knight Green Horizon: this is evidenced by its waist plate which matches the waist armor of Mekk-Knight Green Horizon as well as the weapons which Knightmare Goblin is shown wielding.

Release Details

This card’s English version is already out.

The Secret Rare version of Knightmare Goblin (Flames of Destruction FLOD-JP044) sells for 1,680 JPY (~US$12) per copy.
