The promotional version of the Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX was first released as part of the Hidden Fates Elite Trainer Box in September 2019. This seventh-generation promotional card has recently experienced a major price spike.

About Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX (SM Black Star Promos 210)

The most obvious point of note with regard to this Super Rare (SR) card’s visuals has to do with its stained-glass aesthetic; it’s an art style of which very few other cards make use. The Kantonian Legendary birds are depicted in flight with wings spread out, adding a layer of dynamism to the striking and gravitas-filled imagery. Those who have been into the TCG for a long time might also be interested in this card as it may call to mind the iconic jumbo Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos card from the Unnumbered Promotional Cards from Gen 1.

The difficulty in obtaining this card is another factor driving up its value. At this point, very, very few stores will sell an ETB as old as the Hidden Fates Elite Trainer Box. For that reason, the only way to land this card in the vast majority of cases is to buy it as a single card. The card’s status as an ETB-exclusive promo further adds to its elevated price tag.

The Japanese version of this card is card 060/054 from Sky Legend [SM10b].

Following its recent price spike, a copy of a Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX (SM Black Star Promos 210) sells for 9,820 JPY (~US$69). (Nice!)
