On 6 June 2025—a date chosen to coincide with the Japanese releases of Pokémon TCG dual set Black Bolt [SV11B] and White Flare [SV11W]—Target opened online pre-orders for the Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs) of their English versions ([BLK] / [WHT]).

Such was the demand for the ETBs that they sold out within less than an hour. That being said, it’s also been mentioned that there will be future windows for buyers to pre-order the ETBs before the set’s official international launch day on 18 July.

The immense demand for the ETBs was especially notable for two reasons. Firstly, pre-orders were opened without any prior announcement from Target. Secondly, many people in the US have been boycotting Target due to the company’s opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Despite both of these mitigating factors, the fact that the ETBs sold out as quickly as they did speaks volumes about the hype behind the set.
