ASICS is shaking things up, giving their beloved GT-2160 a fresh new look. This time, their staple sneaker is getting a sandal form, offering a breezy, open-air take on the classic.

About the ASICS GT-2160 SE Sandal

The pair offers a breezy, open-air take reminiscent of the oft-forgotten GEL-Sonoma SE. This newly surfaced style breathes new life into a tried-and-proven design with a porous toe box base and “Pure Silver” synthetic profile panels.

While branding remains, the profile construction ditches its traditional build for strategic cutouts. This omission of material at the mid-foot and heel boosts ventilation, making it ideal for the great outdoors. The modified GT-2160 SE also features pull tabs on the spine and heel with lightweight, moisture-resistant neoprene for a snug fit.

Non-standard lace loops and a speed-toggle system add new functionality to the old design. Underfoot, the running-informed sole unit retains the original blueprint, with visible GEL-cushioning and stability for all-day comfort.

Release Details

Specific details of the ASICS GT-2160 SE Sandal have yet to be confirmed as of writing, but the pair is expected to arrive in Summer or Fall 2025 with a retail price tag of US$120 via ASICS. Stay tuned for further updates.
