adidas and Avavav debuted their sophomore effort during the Swedish label’s Fall/Winter 2025 showcase at Milan Fashion Week. There, the duo continues subverting sportswear conventions. Once more showing adidas’ pedigree through Avavav’s proclivities for irreverence.

Helmed by Beate Karlsson, the adidas Originals by Avavav collection is presented through two visual campaigns. Photographer Lennart Madou captures a series of stills reimagining familiar sporting moments, from tennis, golf, and skateboarding, infused with a surrealist, almost dreamlike quality.

Complementing these images is a trilogy of short films featuring basketball champion Kahleah Copper, skateboarder Marcos Montoya, and tennis star Maria Sakkari. Each athlete executes impressive feats, followed by models who attempt—and humorously fail—to replicate their moves, highlighting the playful frivolity at the heart of the collaboration.

The collection reinterprets Avavav’s core aesthetic with pants, tops, hoodies, shorts, and a vest. Distressed fabrics, washed-out finishes, and exaggerated sculptural elements deconstruct and reimagine the hallmark Three Stripes.

Accessories revisit Avavav’s signature hat and bag, which were introduced in their previous collection, offering evolved designs for this season.

Footwear remains a focal point, following last season’s provocative update to the Superstar with a five-finger attachment. This time, Avavav introduces two new adidas Originals silhouettes:

The Moonrubber Megaride draws inspiration from ’90s running shoes, featuring an outsole that appears to be dipped in a fictional “moon goo”. Meanwhile, a reworked Superstar features a sculpted sole and anatomical toecap, resulting in a distorted yet thoughtful reinterpretation of the quintessential silhouette.

The second adidas Originals by Avavav collection is set for a global release on 22 May 2025, via the adidas CONFIRMED app.
