[Pokémon TCG] The Froslass/Munkidori Deck Spreads the Chip Damage for the Big Finish
The slower tempo of the post-rotation meta has made given this deck a new level of competitive viability.

Apart from a seventh-place finish at the Malaysia Master Ball League and a sixth-place finish at the Sevilla Special Event, the Froslass/Munkidori deck hasn’t seen much tournament success to date. That being said, it’s one which has slowly but gradually been gaining traction among the player base; some have said that it has genuine potential to emerge as a serious force within the Pokémon TCG metagame.
Strategy
In the early stages of the game, the deck’s titular duo from Mask of Change [SV6] make use of their Abilities of Freezing Shroud (Froslass) and Adrena-Brain (Munkidori) to spread damage across opposing Pokémon in any way the opponent sees fit. To make this spread damage more difficult to escape, the Budew card from Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] is also included for its Item-locking capabilities.
Later on, after the opposing Pokémon have been weakened by the chip damage that’s been spread, the player can bring it either Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex from Crimson Haze [SV5a] or Technical Machine: Devolution from Ancient Roar [SV4K] to finish them off. Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex works well against Basics while Technical Machine: Devolution is to be used against evolved Pokémon by devolving them and thus reducing their HP to a point at which the chip damage they’d have sustained would KO them.
This deck’s relatively slow tempo works in its favor in the current meta which tends to favor slower decks. It’s also a rare example of a meta-viable deck which doesn’t have a main draw engine.
Price
The total cost of all the cards in the Froslass/Munkidori deck is at least 6,880 JPY (~US$47).
