Spencer Badu x HOKA Elevon X [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
The pair showcases a vibrant yellow upper, punctuated by significant symbols that honor Badu's Ghanaian ancestry.
Known for his distinctive uniform-inspired apparel, Canadian-Ghanaian designer Spencer Badu is making his foray into footwear with his inaugural collaboration: the Spencer Badu x HOKA Elevon X. This shoe represents a deeply personal endeavor for the designer, drawing inspiration from themes of identity, movement, and his heritage.
About the Spencer Badu x HOKA Elevon X
Badu invested considerable thought into this debut sneaker, aiming for it to narrate the story of his brand. His brand emphasizes both physical and emotional movement, alongside the journey of self-understanding and the exploration of one’s roots.

The outcome is a visually compelling interpretation of the Elevon X. It showcases a vibrant yellow upper, punctuated by significant symbols that honor Badu’s Ghanaian ancestry. Notably featured are the Cowrie Shell, historically significant as a form of currency, and two Adinkra symbols: Fawohodie, symbolizing freedom, and Nyame Dua, representing divine protection. These elements embody liberation and discovery, central tenets of Badu’s design philosophy and his personal narrative.

Notwithstanding these personal design elements, the shoe retains the technological attributes characteristic of the HOKA Elevon X, including a Pebax plate, a substantial EVA foam midsole, and a TPU heel counter for enhanced stability.
Release Details
The Spencer Badu x HOKA Elevon X is scheduled to launch on 15 May via Spencer Badu’s official website and select retailers, with a wider release at HOKA retailers following on 16 May. The shoe will be available for US$225.
