There have been instances in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG when a card is released years before its associated card is. This is the case with the Lunalight Perfume Dancer card—a new card that made its debut in Duelist Advance but was linked to the similarly-named Luna Light Perfume card first released in 2016 as part of Series 9 Core Booster The Dark Illusion.

About Lunalight Perfume Dancer (Duelist Advance DUAD-JP031)

This card’s release adds context to a card which many Yu-Gi-Oh TCG fans might not have initially thought much about. Luna Light Perfume was initially launched as a stand-alone Spell card; it was never connected to any other card until the release of Lunalight Perfume Dancer in Duelist Advance over nine years later. In gameplay, the player can take a Luna Light Perfume card from the deck and put it in hand if Luna Light Perfume is Fusion Summoned into play. Backstory-wise, Lunalight Perfume Dancer uses Luna Light Perfume as part of her dances as is clearly shown on the Lunalight Perfume Dancer illustration.

This is one of the cards from Duelist Advance which has a Quarter Century Secret Rare version; as such, it commands a notable price tag due to its rarity. This is also a card which depicts a female character; these factors combined with the fact that it connects to a card released many years ago which had never had any expanded backstory until now serve to make this card one of the set’s more impressive pickups.

The latest figures place the price of a Prismatic Secret Rare Lunalight Perfume Dancer (Duelist Advance DUAD-JP031) at 3,200 JPY (~US$22).
