New Balance MADE In USA 1300JP (2025) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
Appearing once every five years, this model is a true collector's item.
The 1980s marked a pivotal era in sneaker culture, defined by modest technological advances and a more even playing field among brands, which made marketing the decisive factor in a shoe’s success. In 1985, New Balance made waves by launching the 1300, a US$130 running shoe that was promoted as their finest creation to date—a price point that was unprecedented for running footwear at the time. This model quickly became synonymous with luxury and performance, earning praise from celebrities and athletes alike.
As the decade progressed, a unique sneaker exchange emerged between the United States and Japan: the New Balance MADE in USA 1300JP.
About the New Balance MADE in USA 1300JP
Many American sneakers that were hard to find in Asia began appearing in Tokyo’s Ueno district, fostering a passionate and distinctive sneaker community. This trend saw certain models, like the New Balance 1300, launch with modest attention in the West, only to gain cult status in Japan and later experience a resurgence as global demand followed the Japanese lead.

Responding to this unexpected enthusiasm from Japanese collectors, New Balance re-released the MADE in USA 1300 exclusively for Japan in 1995. Since then, the 1300JP has adhered to a tradition of limited releases every five years, each drop eagerly anticipated by enthusiasts worldwide.
