Nintendo has requested a subpoena from a California court which if granted, would legally require Discord to provide Nintendo with information about the identity of the person behind the “teraleak” in October 2024 which was so named because it contained over one terabyte of data containing Pokémon-related information which had originally been intended to be confidential.

Some of the information related to the teraleak was linked to the Pokémon TCG. These include a scrapped Pokémon TCG mobile game internally codenamed as “Project Swallow” as well as a scrapped Water-type Pokémon known as “Wallabit” which had its image featured on a proposed Pokémon TCG card.

In addition, the key art for the Pokémon World Championships 2025 was revealed via the teraleak and was subsequently confirmed in February.

The screen name of the person behind the teraleak is “GameFreakOUT”. Although Nintendo hasn’t openly expressed their desire to do so, it’s widely expected that Nintendo will sue “GameFreakOUT” once the latter’s identity is determined as that is the course of action which Nintendo has historically taken with regard to such incidents.
