With the NBA playoffs underway and the Oklahoma City Thunder entering as the top seed, propelled by MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the star guard has also given fans a glimpse of his latest sneaker. Just before the Thunder’s dominant 51-point victory against the Memphis Grizzlies in their opening playoff game, Gilgeous-Alexander unveiled the second colorway of his upcoming Converse signature shoe, the Converse SHAI 001.

About the Converse SHAI 001 “Ares Grey”

The short black and white video showcased the “Ares Grey” edition of the Converse SHAI 001, a name inspired by Gilgeous-Alexander’s son. This new version maintains the same design as the previously revealed “Butter” colorway from February, featuring a seamless upper strengthened with TPU overlays and cushioned neoprene.

A uniform grey tone covers the entire upper, including the zippered layer that conceals the laces. Gilgeous-Alexander’s personal logo appears on the tongue, while the Converse chevron is located on the heel. Inside, the shoe incorporates a Zoom Air unit in the forefoot along with full-length foam cushioning for comfort. The shoe is completed with a high-traction rubber outsole, which also displays branding from both Shai and Converse.

Release Details

While an official launch date for the Converse SHAI 001 “Ares Grey” hasn’t been announced, it is anticipated to be released in Fall 2025 through Converse and select retailers, both online and in physical stores. The expected retail price for men’s sizes is US$130.
