On 6 January, adidas generated significant buzz by revealing a partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team. Following this announcement, the brand transitioned the collaboration from the racetrack to everyday wear, introducing a reimagined version of the classic SL 72 sneaker.

These sneakers, a component of a broader adidas Mercedes F1 collection, successfully merged traditional adidas aesthetics with motorsport-inspired elements.

About the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS x adidas SL-72 Pack

The SL 72 retained its characteristic nylon, suede, and leather upper, enhanced by the inclusion of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS emblem. A teal accent, a clear reference to the F1 team’s distinctive color, provided a striking visual element across all three available variations. The familiar “Footwear White/Core Black/Silver Metallic” color scheme was also present, though its application varied between each shoe.

The iconic sole unit, a hallmark of the SL 72’s running heritage, completed the design, effectively blending sportswear legacy with Formula 1 style.
