Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon

The 2016 Yu-Gi-Oh anime movie Yu-Gi-Oh The Dark Side of Dimensions, set after the events of the original Yu-Gi-Oh anime and manga, featured the anime debuts of many cards which in real life were put together in the Yu-Gi-Oh The Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack. One of those cards was Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon—a card which has now received a Quarter Century Secret Rare alternate-art version in Quarter Century Art Collection.

About Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon (Quarter Century Art Collection QCAC-JP001)

In Yu-Gi-Oh The Dark Side of Dimensions, Seto Kaiba used this card in his duel against Yugi Muto for the two missing pieces of the Millennium Puzzle by Ritual Summoning it via the use of the Chaos Form card. This is replicated in the actual card; in the real-life TCG, the Chaos Form card must also be used to Ritual Summon Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon. The card’s name references the Yu-Gi-Oh manga; in the manga, the effect name of Obelisk the Tormentor—another card used by Kaiba—is Soul Energy MAX.

This card also has links to what many would consider the two most iconic of all Yu-Gi-Oh TCG cards: Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician. Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon, as is implied by its name, is a retrained counterpart of Blue-Eyes White Dragon. In addition, Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon is the rival of Palladium Oracle Mahad, the retrained counterpart of Dark Magician, just as Blue-Eyes White Dragon is the rival of Dark Magician. These connections to those iconic cards further elevate the card’s value.

The version of this card from Quarter Century Art Collection is the second Quarter Century Secret Rare iteration of the card but the first to feature the alternate artwork. The illustration is largely similar to the original but makes use a closer angle and has a slightly different background.
