In 2012, Konami released The Gold Box—a set that brought together all the Gold Rare cards that had already been released up to that point. One of the standout cards in it was Jinzo, which had originally been printed as a Gold Rare in the Gold Series before being brought back in the same rarity in The Gold Box.

About Jinzo (The Gold Box GDB1-JP004)

Cards of the Gold Rare rarity were only in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG from 2009 to 2016; as such, Gold Rare cards such as this Jinzo card not only had one of the highest rarities of their era; they also have an inherent level of collector’s appeal because there will never again be any new cards in that rarity.

Adding to the demand for this card is the fact that while there have been 14 versions of Jinzo to date, the most recent came in May 2020 as part of Duelist Pack: Duelists of Gloom. It remains to be seen if the card will ever receive a reprint going forward.

Since the first Jinzo card was released in 2000 as part of Curse of Anubis, it has been viable in the metagame. The card prevents any Trap cards and their respective effects from being activated; it also negates all Trap cards’ effects on the field. This card will also interest those who became Yu-Gi-Oh fans via the anime because it was featured in Katsuya Jonouchi’s deck.

The price of a Jinzo (The Gold Box GDB1-JP004) card is 61,780 JPY (~US$400).
