[Update 23 Oct] Both parties have stayed reticent since the news first broke about their upcoming collaboration—until a few hours ago with posts from their respective Instagram accounts. Although the previously-mentioned varsity jacket isn’t in the lineup, the collection consists of t-shirt offerings with the pièce de résistance in the form of a KAWS-custom Man on the Moon Trilogy Box Set.

The apparel will carry two black short-sleeved, and three long-sleeved offerings, two in black and a singular off-white, with screen printed front and back graphics. They’re available now for pre-order on Kid Cudi’s merch store, and is expected to ship out on 31st December. The price point range between US$50 for the short-sleeved tees, and US$150 for the long-sleeved crewnecks.

[Update 18 Oct] Neither KAWS nor the Man on the Moon have spoken about the upcoming collaboration, but the photos below does in some form, ascertain its existence.

Kid Cudi and JP THE WAVY share a moment backstage following their performance together in Tokyo. In it, the former dons a pair of hitherto unseen varsity jacket that depicts his Entergalactic iconography on the right side front with KAWS’ logo on the left. There’re also badges designed by VERDY serving as accoutrement but it’ll be based on presumptions whether it’s actually a tripartite collaboration. There’s no telling if the apparel is even meant for a general release or exclusively made for Kid Cudi.

When more information surfaces however, expect you’d hear it from us.

LINE

Famous for many of his collaborative projects, KAWS has announced a new partnership with rapper Kid Cudi for a new collection.

No details of the collaboration have been released, with both parties only posting a single teaser featuring the artist’s X’s for eyes symbol and the rapper’s logo. This is not the first time both of them have worked together. In September 2021, Cudi and KAWS partnered with jeweler Ben Baller to create an intricate diamond and 18K gold chain for Kid Cudi to wear at the Met Gala. Titled ‘Space’, the chain consisted of the signature KAWS figure in an astronaut suit with a backpack that could be opened.

Kid Cudi is no stranger to the streetwear scene. With the likes of Kanye West and Pharrell, the Cleveland-hailed rapper was one of the first few artists to bridge the gap between hip-hop and streetwear. His debut mixtape “A Kid Named Cudi” was released in conjunction with New York-based streetwear brand 10.Deep, marking the first few steps of hip-hop going hand in hand with streetwear and its impact on the fashion industry.
