Universal Music To Launch “uMusic” Fashion Line
Bringing the creative works of music artists to life.
Universal Music is set to launch “uMusic”, a fashion line that brings the creative works of music artists to life.
Created as a project within the company’s BRAVADO division, which has spent over a decade developing artist merchandise, uMusic is built on a foundation of deep knowledge in apparel manufacturing.
The line celebrates the iconic styles of legends like The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, the Sex Pistols, and Billie Eilish, translating their music into wearable art. Featuring t-shirts, sweatshirts, and long-sleeve styles, each piece incorporates album artwork, with designs crafted by FUMITO GANRYU.
The debut collection, themed “Rock”, includes t-shirts, adorned with the artwork of 10 musical greats such as David Bowie, The Who, Public Image Limited, and Scorpions. Additional pieces include long-sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts, each a statement of both music and fashion.
The collection will drop twice a year, coinciding with the fashion industry’s spring/summer and fall/winter seasons, with pop-up shops bringing the items closer to the fans.
“The music market is actually much smaller than fashion. Our goal is to spark interest with these sought-after items, creating a flow that moves from fashion to music,” said Shinjiro Horiuchi, head of BRAVADO at Universal Music.
