Laika Studios, the acclaimed stop-motion animation house behind beloved films like Coraline, ParaNorman, and Kubo and the Two Strings, is once again dipping its toes into the sneaker world.

With a deep-rooted connection to Nike thanks to its founder, Travis Knight (son of Nike co-founder Phil Knight), Laika has consistently delivered memorable collaborations. Now, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Coraline, they’ve teamed up with Converse for a captivating collection in November 2024.

About the Coraline x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s Hi Star “Sweater”

Inspired by the film’s iconic protagonist and her starry sweater, the Coraline x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s reimagines the classic silhouette with a celestial twist. The upper features a shimmering blue lurex jersey fabric adorned with embroidered silver stars that echo Coraline’s signature look.

Brass eyelets, reminiscent of the Seeing Stone from the film, add a touch of magic and connect the design to the movie’s themes. Co-branded tongue tags and custom insoles further enhance the collaboration, paying homage to the film’s rich visual storytelling. Completing the design is a classic white midsole and black rubber outsole.

Release Details

The Coraline x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s Hi Star “Sweater” is now available for pre-orders, with shipments expected to begin in November 2024. Offered in men’s sizing, the pair is priced at US$100. The remainder of the collection will be released on 21 November 2024, exclusively through Converse’s online store.
