A sneak peak at the upcoming collaboration featuring a cult-classic silhouette.
[Update 2 May 2023] For those who missed out on the NEIGHBORHOOD x Adidas Adimatic collection last year, you have another chance! It’s just been announced that both colorways will be restocking on 5 May 2023 on adidas’ website. Good luck to those looking to cop, and you can head over to the adidas website via the link on the sidebar!
[Update 3 Nov] The release date for the NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas ADIMATIC has been confirmed. Comes in 2 subdued colorways, the sneaker will drop on 5 November via adidas CONFIRMED in Asia and NEIGHBORHOOD’s website with a retail price tag of JPY19,800 (~US$135).
[Update 12 Sep] At least they’re not overcropped and blur. On-hand images have sprouted giving us a better look at the upcoming NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Adimatic, although none official. They’re set to drop sometime this year and the end is near, and so should the release be.
The cult-favourite adidas ADIMATIC silhouette will soon be making a comeback in another adidas collaboration with Japanese fashion label NEIGHBORHOOD. Though the ADIMATIC isn’t a sneaker you’d see regularly on the street, there’s clearly something about it that has kept it from fading into obscurity since its conception nearly 3 decades ago. Invented in 1996 as a skate shoe, the thick and chunky silhouette has since been absorbed into skate and street culture as a whole, and has been the subject of countless designs and collaborations. Speaking of which, Japan’s atmos dropped their intensely blue take on the ADIMATIC a couple months ago.
NEIGHBORHOOD’s take on the ADIMATIC keeps the silhouette’s chunky build, thick laces and stripes but jazzes up the rest of the design. Leaked images show a zig-zag pattern between two shades of grey around the midsole, accompanied by circular icons at the midsole’s rear as well as a paragraph of text at the arch section of the midsole (though photos are too blurry to discern what the text says).
Expect two colourways of the NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas ADIMATIC to drop, comprising a Black and a Grey pair. Both pairs will be utilising a suede upper and stripes, as well as “NEIGHBORHOOD” branding at the heel of both shoes. Sticking to the ADIMATIC’s legacy as skate shoes, these sneakers will utilise rugged, durable materials and a high build quality to ensure they don’t fall apart on the concrete.
There aren’t many official release details about the NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas ADIMATIC quite yet, but most sources expect information to surface very soon. Stay tuned!
