Yohji Yamamoto Sets Japan Ablaze with Fiery New Football Kits for 2024
A perfect addition for those into blokecore vibes.
[Update 22 Jun 2024] The Japan national team’s new home and away kits, designed by Yohji Yamamoto, are officially here! The leaked blue kit features the flaming blue pattern, while the new away kit is a white and red design.
A limited pre-launch drop is happening today, 22 June, via adidas and select retailers. The full collection, including complementary clothing items, launches on 1 July through adidas CONFIRMED.
Legendary Japanese designer, Yohji Yamamoto, is familiar with the world of football jerseys. A few months back, he collaborated with now 15 times Champions League winners, Real Madrid, on their fourth kit, featuring a bold floral impression on a dark purple kit. This time, he’s hitting even closer to home.
Yamamoto has just designed the 2024 kits for the Japanese national football team, just in time for their quest for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The Japanese squad, known as the “Samurai Blue”, gets a deeper, richer navy base for this kit.
The Japan jersey boasts a significantly darker shade of blue than usual. A bold, deep blue flame graphic stretches dramatically from the lower front all the way up, channeling the iconic jerseys worn in 1998 during their historic first World Cup qualification. The chest is completed by the Japan badge and a Y-3 logo.
No word yet on the away kit or bottoms, but stay tuned to SNKRDUNK Magazine for updates as they drop!
