[Update 4 Feb 2025] Contrary to the initial rumors that only 10,000 units of the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Bred” have been produced, new information ascertains there are actually 23,000—limited nonetheless.

Furthermore, only 23 select “neighborhood” retailers in the US will release the pair. Some of these store-exclusive releases will take place on 7 February—a week earlier than the official release date, slated to be 14 February 2025. Additionally, Sneaker Freaker has also released a list of stores worldwide involved in the rollout.

Expect this Jordan 1 ’85 “Bred” to be available in men’s and TD sizes, with a retail price tag of US$250—a valuation justified by using premium materials and special packaging designed to commemorate the shoe’s 40th anniversary.

First released in 1985, the iconic “Bred” colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High has remained in the pantheon of footwear in the four decades since. The archetypal silhouette’s Black and Varsity Red palette symbolized rebellion and style, further propelled by the apocryphal story of it being banned by the NBA for violating uniform regulations (but it was actually a black and red Nike Airship that Michael Jordan wore while the AJ1 was still in development that was banned).

The rumor mill has the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” returning sometime in the spring in lieu of the shoe’s 40th anniversary. The retro release promises to be a faithful recreation of the original, in contrast to the “Reimagined” motif employed in recent years.

Expect the OG color-blocking, addressing its premium Black leather base accented with Varsity Red. The taller silhouette with a larger Swoosh stays true to its 1985 build, differentiating it from its Retro High OG counterpart.
