[Update 17 Mar 2023] More official details have arrived for this Nike Air Jordan 1 Low SE Craft “UNC Grey”, now labelled “Tokyo Vintage”. The origin of this name and the shoe design stem from the “Nike Hoop Heroes” Tour with Jordan, Barkley, Kidd, Finley, Staudermaier, and special guest Carl Lewis at Yokohoma Arena in September 1996. During the event, a boy wore the UNC uniform of Jordan’s alma mater and played 1-on-1. Jordan, himself, wore the AJ12 in this friendly matchup. 

The AJ1 Low SE “Tokyo Vintage” is thus a commemoration of this memorable event—UNC colors are incorporated on the upper, while the Swoosh utilizes the lizard skin scales of the AJ12.

[Update 27 Feb 2023] Official images, alongside a confirmed release date, of the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low SE Craft “UNC Grey” are in. This pair of multilayered AJ1s will drop on 25 March with a US$130 price tag.

The rich textures on the shoe can be seen more clearly via this round of images, with the tumbled leather on the Swoosh and gold Jordan Wings logo popping out from the classic Sail-and-University Blue upper. Take a first look at the official imagery as we count down to its release.

[Update 10 Aug] These Tar Heels-inspired Air Jordan 1 Low didn’t have a name at the time of original writing, but seems like it will go by “UNC Grey” going forward. There’s also an on-foot look now courtesy of @yankeekicks. Some official photos should surface soon, and hopefully a release date along with it.

There’s been quite a few exciting Air Jordan 1 releases lately, so here’s another to add to the list. It’s an all-new, unnamed colourway that features an interesting choice of grey, powder blue and orange. Light grey suede makes up most of the upper with the exception of its leather Swoosh and highlights. At the rear half, the dark grey Swoosh stands out in a rough, snakeskin-like leather, while the heel and eyestays match its colour using a smoother leather. As per Air Jordan 1 standard, the AJ logo can be seen embroidered in bright orange at the heel. At the front half, dark grey abruptly changes to powder blue, complementing the outsole tread.

Two other uncommon stylistic choices for this colourway are the tongue and midsole. The tongue utilises exposed orange sponge typically seen on Nike’s Blazer ’77 silhouette, but very rarely on Air Jordans. Meanwhile, the midsole uses a pattern-textured rubber in a vintage cream colour, rather than the typical modern white. All these elements work in unison to make this unnamed Air Jordan 1 Low colourway stand out amongst the rest.

There’s currently no official release details about this sneaker, so keep your eyes glued while more information surfaces!
