adidas’ Latest Futuristic Sneaker: The Wonder Runner Pro
The Three Stripes' latest "Y3K" effort.
adidas has long been a champion of footwear innovation, especially when it comes to the design and aesthetics of their sneakers. Case in point: the newly released Fear of God Athletics line, helmed by Jerry Lorenzo.
Under the brand’s ‘Future of Style’ umbrella, which by far and wide utilizes futuristic graphics for their marketing efforts, adidas is now set to debut a brand new sneaker: the Wonder Runner Pro.
First revealed by Sneaker News, the new silhouette is exactly what you’d expect from a Sci-Fi movie at first glance: an ultra-modern looking sneaker. That being said, it does mix in elements of nostalgia through its chunky sole unit and initial release color scheme, which paints closer towards what you’d expect from the resurging 2000s’ running shoe trend.
Reportedly, the core of the shoe’s design is also inspired from the hit anime movie Akira, which of course is set in a post-futuristic world. Now imagine an all-red Wonder Runner Pro colorway, wouldn’t it fit right in with Shotaro’s garb?
The adidas Wonder Runner Pro will also come with the Three Stripes’ adiPrene+ technology, together with the all-new LightStrike 2.0 foam that ensures comfortability all-day long. Not only does it look futuristic, it probably will feel that way too.
While a release date has not yet been confirmed for the brand-new adidas Wonder Runner Pro, expect it drop sometime next year.
