COMME des GARÇONS Launches Upcycled “Holidays With FREITAG” Bag Collection
Available now at select CDG and DSM stores globally.
COMME des GARÇONS’ visionary founder, Rei Kawakubo, loves her FREITAG bags. And for the holidays, she’s sharing the love with a limited-edition collection that’s as sustainable as it is stylish.
The “Holidays with FREITAG” collection is a vibrant tapestry of five upcycled bags, each one a testament to shared values and design alchemy. Crafted in Japan exclusively from used truck tarpaulins, these bags are more than just accessories—they’re conversations on sustainability and the beauty of reinvention.
But the magic doesn’t stop there. CDG President Adrian Joffe sums it up beautifully: “We, as CDG, have always enjoyed the meeting of minds and creative values, where the result of the coming together is greater than the sum of its parts. I have been using FREITAG for many years. They were amongst the first to deeply address the recycling and sustainability issues the world faces today.”
Peek into the gallery above and let the kaleidoscope of colors and textures ignite your imagination. Each bag, designed by Kawakubo herself, is a unique masterpiece. And to celebrate this collaboration in true CDG fashion, select CDG and Dover Street Market stores will be transformed into Kawakubo-designed pop-ups.
