[Update 21 Jun 2023] Nike and Fortnite have officially unveiled their “Airphoria” project following the teaser video a few days ago. This endeavor draws from both the real world and the virtual, providing experiences and collectibles in both. First, Fortnite now has a new Airphoria Island that captures the spirit of Air Max in an explorable metropolis.

The Air Max 1 ’86 Back Bling, an in-game reward, may be obtained by collecting all five of these “Air Max Grails”: the Air Max 1, Air Max 97, Air Max TW, Air Max Scorpion, and Air Max Pulse. The game also avails two additional outfits for purchase: the Airie and Maxxed Out Max. They’re joined by an array of other elements such as thematic pickaxes, a glider, an emote, a loading screen, and more. All of which are constructed using well-known Air Max line components.

An “Airphoria” apparel collection was also released in honor of their groundbreaking partnership. Prices range from $35 to $40 USD and are now available on Nike.com. Players can link their Epic Games and Nike accounts to claim an achievement on .SWOOSH, allowing early access to to the incoming .SWOOSH Air Max Virtual Collection.

Just within the last decade, the sneaker landscape has undergone a significant overhaul with businesses, almost entirely, shifting to internet distribution. Moreover, it seemed like the culture found more vibrancy through activations and drops with precise locations appearing around some of the major cities in the globe. Now so it seems, Nike is trying to rekindle some of this sentiment as they tease what they call the “Ultimate Sneakerhunt.”

The prize, the Air Max model named “AIRPHORIA”, was revealed in the title card of the teaser video. The event will be held in association with Fortnite, and is set to start on June 20th.
