The Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid “Fat Tongue” Leans in to Its Skateboarding Pedigree
Finally, an Air Jordan 1 that folks can skate and thrash in again.
The legendary Nike Air Jordan 1 may have been designed for the hardwood floors, but it wasn’t limited to that solely. Before they cost as much as they do now, skaters subsumed them into their subculture after finding that they were a perfect pair to thrash in. This bit of trivia might be esoteric knowledge to many but not for long, especially with the Jumpman continuing its acknowledgement of its skateboarding history with the recent release of the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green”.
Now they lean in to it even more by integrating the skate shoe staple padded tongue on the Air Jordan 1 Mid. The pair adopts the familiar color scheme of the “Shattered Backboard 3.0” with its black and orange palette. It features a nubuck leather construction on the upper with mesh tongues and lining.
It’s most notable components get highlighted in orange with black giving them its contrast. Red trimmings line these parts as seen on the perforated toebox, profile Swooshes, and ankle collar. Signature imprints are giving prominence in red as seen on the Jordan Wings logo on the lateral heel and the tongue tag. All of the above-mentioned sit atop a white midsole and orange outsole underfoot.
Details are scarce at the moment but with these official images coming to light, information should emerge soon too, within the coming weeks or months. Expect an update at this very page then!
Elsewhere under the Swoosh umbrella, Kobe Bryant’s Nike Air Huarache “Lakers Away” PE is rumored to get a public release.
