Japan is indubitably a fashion mecca and with that title comes plenty of its own exclusive releases. One of which—amongst a plethora—is the titular pair (and the accompanying apparel). It’s not the maiden effort of the tripartite having collaborated on a previous iteration of Puma’s Suede quintessence.

kaoyorinakami is a label led by multi-hyphenate Junya Abe with a signature inspired by the his interpretation of everyday life, with a touch of his own humor imbedded. Freak’s Store has been a presence since 1986, being one of the earliest purveyors of Americana in Japan. Puma, by now a legacy brand, needs no introduction (unless you’re one of the aliens SETI is looking for).

Their next effort doesn’t deviate too far from their first, seeing once more the Puma Suede transform. From the staple Black/White palette of the trio’s debut, to this Grey/Orange makeup. The former the base layer, the latter on the signature Puma vectors on the profiles. Added into the mix is white dressing the laces, sole unit, and kaoyorinakami’s branding on the lateral heel. Puma makes their presence in gold in its usual placements on the quarter, heel tab, and as a monogram on the footbed.

Accompanying the Suede shoes are two black and a white offering each of a long-sleeved and short-sleeved tee. All the clothes feature a comical amalgamation of Puma’s mascot with kaoyorinakami’s iconic “Punch Boy” graphic. On the sleeves sees the German brand’s logo embroidered.

They’re releasing on 24 March exclusively at Freak Store’s Daytona Park website: the sneaker for JPY11,000 (~US$85), the L/S tee for JPY8,998 (~US$69), and S/S for JPY7,997 (~US$61).

Elsewhere, another Japanese brand expands their collaborative portfolio with a European shoemaker. Check out the BEAUTY&YOUTH x Reebok Classic Leather.
