Levi’s® Menlo Cossack Leather Jacket [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
According to updates from Levi’s Vintage Clothing, the brand is reissuing the beloved leather jacket worn by Albert Einstein, the 20th century's most renowned physicist. This historic limited-edition release officially dropped on 4th and 5th December 2025(JP).
Genius Meets Heritage: Einstein’s Favorite Jacket Returns
This release is a meticulous recreation of the “Menlo Cossack” jacket that Einstein wore famously during the 1930s—the very era he acquired his American citizenship. The project is grounded in authentic history; Levi’s actually acquired the original jacket at a Christie’s auction in 2016, allowing them to study and reproduce the garment down to the finest stitch.
The design features a distinctive rounded collar (often referred to as a shawl collar) and cuffs, paired with a shorter, boxy silhouette that reflects the tailoring trends of that decade. This cut exudes a classical, intellectual aesthetic. The jacket utilizes side adjusters equipped with brass buckles, details that have been thoroughly replicated to match the original hardware.
This drop is strictly limited to 800 pieces worldwide, making it a true collector’s item. To celebrate the acquisition of the original, the package includes a replica of the “97” bidding paddle used by Levi’s at the auction, along with special packaging featuring photography of the physicist. This is a supreme product that allows you to feel the weight of history on your shoulders.
