The Notorious B.I.G. x Air Jordan 13, a special release from 2017 commemorating Biggie’s 45th birthday, remains one of the most discussed and sought-after Jordans in the sneaker world. A closer look at this highly exclusive “friends-and-family” pair has recently emerged, courtesy of English Sole.

About the Notorious B.I.G. x Air Jordan 13

While initially believed to be limited to just 23 pairs, it has since been revealed that more were produced and distributed among Biggie’s inner circle and his estate. Crucially, these sneakers were never released to the public, solidifying their status as a true holy grail for both sneaker enthusiasts and hip-hop aficionados.

In 2023, 23 of these exceptionally rare pairs were auctioned, collectively raising over half a million dollars for the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation. These funds were dedicated to supporting educational initiatives for children in inner cities.

The shoe itself features a sleek black design, crafted from premium suede and leather. Each tongue is adorned with an embossed portrait of Biggie, and hidden beneath the tongues, embroidered phrases such as “Think BIG” and “It Was All A Dream” serve as powerful tributes to his life and enduring legacy. The sneakers are also presented in a special commemorative box with unique tissue paper.

With its compelling narrative and extreme rarity, the Notorious B.I.G. x Air Jordan 13 undeniably showcases the profound influence of hip-hop on sneaker culture and serves as a constant reminder of Biggie’s lasting impact. For those interested in other Biggie-inspired footwear, DJ Clark Kent’s custom Coogi Air Force 1 from 2018 is another notable example.
